Alex Lackey was born in Juneau, Alaska, and weighed in at a whopping 10 pounds and 3 ounces. His mother knew he was meant to be something in the world of athletics. He lived a good infant life, however his parents did not. Alex’s father walked out on him and his mother when he was only two years old. They moved down to Washington State soon to live with her parents, Alex’s grandparents, for support until Christine, Alex’s mother could get back on her feet. As soon as they did, Christine and the new man in her life, Glenn, decided to move over to Eastern Washington to a large city named Spokane. Lackey loved football, elementary school, and all of his friends in his so far uncomplicated life. Then Glenn tells him of this big match. Shawn Michaels vs. Bret Hart. As soon as Alex saw that, he was hooked. He grew up in middle school with the attitude era, watching and idolizing names like Steve Austin, The Rock, Triple H, The Undertaker, and more. He watched the draft, Hulk Hogan’s sixth world title reign, the birth of “What?” and he even attended Wrestlemaina XIX in his home state of Washington. After seeing that show, he decided that he wants this.
Lackey started to bulk up in the gym, and was on the varsity football and wrestling teams in his junior and senior years of high school. After he graduated high school, he decided to get enrolled in a local wrestling school. He met with Bryan Danielson, another fellow Washingtonian. He put in a good word to the Texas Wrestling Academy, and he took college classes on the side to get his degree as a registered nurse, like his mother. After finishing both schools, he searched around indie territories to make a name for himself. He just landed tiny gigs such as wrestling pre-shows for $800 a week. Until one certain territory saw potential in him. That territory was South Beach Wrestling. He defeated Cannon Hill in such an extraordinary fashion that this territory kept him around for a while. He kept racking up wins and became a regular, not to mention a fan favorite. He did not win any titles there; however he was one of the best wrestlers not to hold a strap in a company. He got the call after his Ladder match win against his rival Hill in the summer of 2006 to the IMDbWE. While this not a big a name as WWE or TNA, this company had just enough momentum and star power to get his name heard in the wrestling business.
He debuted against Kirk Angel at Slammin Summer 2006, and fought him to a draw in an Ultimate Submission match. He beat jobbers at BattleZone week in and week out, until he was entered in the Ultimate X tournament, where the winner received the vacant X division championship. He made it to the finals, only to be defeated by Seth Jacobs at Rebel Yell. He challenged Jacobs to a rematch a few weeks later in a two out of three falls contest on BattleZone to win his very first championship in any company. He started to rise and gain star power with the belt like he dreamed he would. He befriended the icon River Daniels, and he taught Lackey how to deal in this business. With a hungry heart and River’s advice, he decided to head up his own team at the Gauntlet vs. Jake Knave’s team. Lackey was eliminated in the scuffle, but in the end, Lackey’s teammate, Brandon Danielson got the win for Team Lackey. The stipulation of that match was that the winners get shots at Lackey’s X title. The fans voted and at Anhiliation, Alex squared off against Danielson, Carlos Perez, and Seth Jacobs in a scramble cage melee match, where you hit aerial moves off the cage on your opponent to eliminate them. The final two were Lackey & Jacobs, and Lackey hit the Swanton Bomb on Seth to retain his gold in arguably Lackey’s best match ever.
2007 came along, and so did John Molvanni. He was named the number one contender to Lackey’s X division championship. These two had a feud so ugly, that Alex’s girlfriend, IMDbWE reporter Maria got involved in this one. Molvanni and Lackey had an outstanding ladder match at Royal Battle with Lackey retaining the gold. He also competed in the Royal Battle Match, and even eliminated Gorak the Giant Viking, but was thrown out by Seth Jacobs. John and Alex continued to feud to No Holds Barred where again the X Division title was on the line, however Maria screwed Lackey over to award the title to her new boyfriend, John Molvanni. And that ended one of the longest title reigns ever in the IMDbWE. Alex went on a blind rampage due to that, and got a rematch with Johnny Douglas for the X title in a triple threat Ultimate X match that Alex won. His title reign, along with the whole company fizzled out in the early second quarter of 2007 as the IMDbWE almost went out of business. The company however bounced back somehow, and announced the IMDbWE Open. Where wrestlers would be contracted if they did compete on the show, regardless of winning or losing. Alex defeated Spawn in an upset in the opening contest of the event.
He later teamed up with old rival Seth Jacobs to dispose of the Bad MFrs (Vinnie & Quinton.) They christened themselves “The Cohorts” and gained much popularity with fans. They won the vacant tag team championships at Chase for the Championship against the MFrs. As they played jokes on people, like hiring transvestite hookers for opponents, to conducting fake news casts, they always had fun, and took care of business. They defended their titles in a fatal four way match at Slammin Summer before dropping the titles at Rebel Yell to the Fuckers (River & Axl) in an ultimate X match. Seth got injured and Lackey’s career almost slipped away, until Jake Knave came back and made his first target on Lackey. The two feuded after Halloween Horror, where Alex delivered a shoot on how he was not on the card. They fought for the rest of 2007 ending in Jake’s Money in the Bank briefcase being defended in a ladder match at Annihilation in Lackey’s hometown of Spokane, but not before appearing at IMDbWF’s One Night Stand II where he defeated hardcore icon Pete Forge in a tables match. Alex then fought Knave in the ladder match, and won with the help of a semi-returning Seth Jacobs, thus reuniting the Cohorts.
